About SNBFIF
SNBFIF is an Not-for-profit NGO registered under Section 8 company founded in Chennai in 2022 by Padmashree Prof Dr. S. Natarajan, with a mission to make India “blind-free” by eliminating Diabetic Retinopathy. We believe that every patient deserves quality eye care, regardless of their socioeconomic status. To create awareness and change the behavioral practices of the people towards better care of their eyes.
Diagnosis & Treatment Support
To provide timely eye screening and treatment solutions to prevent avoidable blindness.
Collaboration
To affiliate with national and international professional bodies and experts, to bring in knowledge and support, assist overseas institutions working in similar domains, and work with other registered civil societies, private hospitals, and individual experts to facilitate better coordination in eye health promotion and to enhance eye health in India.

Prof. Dr.S. Natarajan
Founding Chairman & Director of Sundaram Natarajan Blind Free India Foundation, a Section 8 Company for doing Charitable Eye care pan India.
He is a Vitreoretinal Surgeon since 1984, 41 years of doing Ophthalmology still going strong. He is a Padmashree Awardee (one of the highest civilian awards by the President of India) and a State award by the Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir for his meritorious public service. He is the Chief Clinical Services – Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Mumbai , India and Chief Vitreo Retinal Services – Dr. Agarwal Group of 240 Eye Hospitals, Worldwide.
He has done more than 65,000 plus Vitreo Retinal surgeries, Trauma & Accidental complicated surgeries. Has given more than 3,000 invited guest lectures all over the world. Authored more than 4 Books. Peer Reviewed Publications more than 300 in National & International Journals.
He is a Charter member of the Retina Hall of Fame (only two Indians till now).
He is a Guinness World Record holder for screening the maximum number of Diabetic Retinopathy cases in Asia’s largest urban slum (Dharavi, Mumbai). In 8 hours 649 patients were screened.
He is a Trustee member of Roti Bank, Mumbai who serves free meals to 10,000 people per day. He is a Managing Trustee in an Not-for-profit NGO registered under Section 8 company Kamala Sundaram Foundation, Mumbai.

Meet Ms. Laxmi Balaji who has 17+ years of experience as an Executive Secretary in Medical Industries and Corporates. She began her career in 2003 at Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital (Mumbai) and trained under Prof Dr. S. Natarajan. She played a vital role in Dr. SN’s groundbreaking “Jyot Se Jyot Jalao” campaign and was a co-author of the award-winning video “Blind Free India” at the ALL INDIA OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY in 2020.
Ms. Balaji holds a Bachelor of Science (Botany) from Mumbai University and Computers from NIIT and is passionate about her work in the medical field.
